چکیده

This study was aimed at determining the analgesic effects of vigabatrin (VGB, a newer antiepileptic drug) in the acute thermal pain model (hot-plate test) in mice. Linear regression analysis was used to evaluate a dose-response relationship between logarithms of VGB doses and their resultant maximum possible antinociceptive effects (MPAE) in the hot-plate test in mice. From the linear equation of dose-response relationship, doses of VGB that increased the antinociceptive effect by 15%, 20% and 25% were calculated and amounted in this study to 144, 383 and 1,016 mg/kg, respectively. In conclusion, VGB in a dose-dependent manner produces the analgesic effects in mice in the hot-plate test. The method allowing for the calculation of doses of VGB increasing the antinociceptive effects by 15%, 20% and 25% can be readily adapted to preclinical studies because these values perfectly characterize the potency of antiepileptic drugs with respect to suppression of acute thermal pain in mice.

Dose-response relationship analysis of pregabalin doses and their antinociceptive effects in hot-plate test in mice.

The aim of this study was to determine the analgesic effects of pregabalin (a third-generation antiepileptic drug) using the acute thermal pain model (hot-plate test) in mice. Linear regression analysis was used to evaluate a dose-response relationship between logarithms of pregabalin doses and their resultant maximum possible antinociceptive effects (MPAE) using the hot-plate test in mice. Antinociceptive and Anti-inflammatory Effects of Pistacia vera Leaf Extract in Mice

Pistacia vera L., a member of Anacardiaceae family, has been used for sedation and analgesia in traditional medicine. In this study, the antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects as well as acute toxicity of the aqueous and ethanolic extracts of P. vera leaves were investigated in mice. The antinociceptive activity was studied using hot plate and writhing tests. The effect of the extracts a...

Antinociceptive Effect of Elaeagnus angustifolia Fruits on Sciatic Nerve Ligated Mice

Objective(s) The role of Elaeagnus angustifolia fruit as an analgesic agent in acute pain has been proved earlier. In this study, the effects of aqueous extracts of three parts of this fruit (pericarp, medulla and seed) on chronic pain were investigated in mice. Materials and Methods A partial nerve injury was made using a tight ligature around the sciatic nerve, then doses (0.5, 1, 1.5 g/kg...

اثر هارمان، نورهارمان و هارمین بر درد القاء شده با صفحه داغ و فرمالین در موش

Background and purpose: Harmane, norharmane and harmine are -carboline members of the family of Harmalas alkaloids (Peganum harmala, Zygophillaceae). The -carboline alkaloids bind to benzodiazepine site of the γ-aminobutyric acid type A (GABAA) receptors as inverse agonists. This finding suggests that the harmane, norharmane and harmine might attenuate the hot-plate and formalin-induced noci...
